Madrid – Police in Ibiza detained a British man on Thursday wanted over the murder and dismemberment of 31-year-old woman in Thailand whose body was found dismembered in a suitcase floating in a river in 2014.
AFP quoted the Guardia Civil police force as saying Shane Looker, 46, the subject of an international arrest warrant over the murder of Laxami Manochat and, was tracked down in Ibiza, one of Spain’s Balearic Islands.
“They found this person’s vehicle, he went to service his car at a garage and was detained,” a Guardia Civil spokeswoman told AFP. Looker has been jailed pending extradition proceedings.
Body parts of Laxami were stuffed in a suitcase that was found floating in the Mae Klong River in Kanchanaburi province on November 6, 2014. She was later identified by her relatives from a navel piecing and her clothes.
Shane Looker was wanted in connection with the death of Laxami after security camera footage showed her leaving a bar zone in Bangkok with a “male foreigner” on the evening of November 1, 2014, and both got into a taxi to Kanchanaburi.//AFP, The Nation
